The Copyright Directive, including the provisions regarding technological protection measures that control access to copyrighted works, was implemented into the Danish Copyright Act on 17 December 2002. The new national rules were in force starting from 22 December 2002. By this, Denmark was the only EU Member State together with Greece to meet the Directive’s implementation deadline of 22 December 2002.

The new national rules on technological protection measures were inserted into a new chapter 6 a of the Copyright Act covering the §§ 75 b – e. This chapter also contains the new provisions regarding electronic rights-management information.
